LUNCH 7 DAYS | DINNER FRIDAY & SATURDAY

{Wedding Day} MARIAH + LACHY

High school sweethearts Mariah + Lachy were married at Jack Rabbit Vineyard on 7th March 2020.

How did Lachy pop the question?
It was a Saturday afternoon, Lachy said he was going to work that morning and wanted to have a picnic in the Arvo, when I met him for our little picnic he was sitting in the park with a picnic rug, some champagne and wait for it... A PUPPY. He had spent the day driving to gippsland to pick up little Ollie to surprise me. After my shock, he pulled out the ring and asked the question!

Planning for me was easy and stress free. We went to Jack Rabbit about 3 weeks after Lachy proposed, we had a big day planned of looking at venues along the surf coast as we wanted a destination wedding. First stop was Jack Rabbit, and needless to say we looked no further, cancelled all other appointments and made a booking that day! 18 months later we tied the knot! Giving ourselves 18 months was ideal, we didn’t feel stressed or rushed. We booked the big things early then slowly worked through the rest over the coming months.

What was the inspiration behind the style of your wedding?

We looked at so many weddings for inspo, from Jack rabbit Instagram to ivory tribe. We loved the pastel tones and big roses. And once we knew we loved that look, the rest fell into place!

My dress was better then I could have ever imagined! I had a dress I was drawn to from Georgia Young, booker an appointment and tried it on, I was in love. Georgia was amazing and insisted I tried on some others too. It wasn’t until the last one that I put on, something so different from the first dress, something I never thought I would wear and it was the one! It was the perfect dress to marry Lachy in! The experience with Georgia Young was incredible!

Did you include any particular traditions in your day?
Not really, Lachy and I aren’t one for traditions, we chose a champagne tower over cutting a cake!

What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage to us is two people committing themselves to each other, growing together both as a couple and as individuals. It means compromise and compassion, it means support and understanding but mostly it means undivided love, and lots of fun while we are at it!!
Your wedding soundtrack?
Aisle: The Only Exception - Paramore (a special song for us from when we were much younger!)
Reception Entry: Voulez-Vous - ABBA & Crazy in Love - Beyonce
First dance: Sweet Disposition - Tempertrap
Words of wisdom for other couples planning a wedding?
Give yourself time! Book in the big stuff early and make to do lists to stop yourself from being overwhelmed. You want to be present on those last few days before you get married, not running around stressed and unorganized. It’s never to early to have things done! I also recommend a yoga session to start your big day, we loved that!
