Lonely Planet lists Bellarine in World’s Top Ten!

The secret is well and truly out.  The Bellarine Peninsula has been named as one of the top ten Best Value Destinations in the world!  Global travel authority, Lonely Planet, has released its annual travel book, Best in Travel 2017 which highlights the top ten countries, cities, regions and best value destinations recommended by its experts for traveller experiences in the coming year.  The destinations selected for Best in Travel meet specific criteria as reviewed by teams of writers and experts who continually travel the world.  The Bellarine came out shining and was ranked ninth Best Value Destination amidst some of the world’s best.

  1. Nepal
  2. Namibia
  3. Porto, Portugal
  4. Venice, Italy
  5. Debrecen, Hungary
  6. Belize
  7. Morocco
  8. Russia
  9. Bellarine Peninsula, Australia
  10. Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, USA

“The Bellarine Peninsula has been a destination of choice for Melburnians looking for a laid-back (read: sleepy) escape from the city for generations,” the guide writes.

“But now this part of Victoria has some tasty-looking attractions to go with its timeless beaches and historic towns like Queenscliff and Portarlington.  Jack Rabbit and Flying Brick Cider Co are two of the newer destinations attracting attention, along with a rail trail for cycling, rock pooling, snorkelling and surfing.”
