Discovering a new winery or touring your favourite wine region is a fine way to spend your leisure time.
Recently BUPA Australia complied a list of Australia’s Best Winery experiences and we are thrilled to have been included as one of the ten best winery experiences.
The Jack Rabbit Vineyard experience isn’t just about tasting wine. The journey begins before you even arrive at the picturesque location…
As you venture out of Geelong making your way towards The Bellarine you catch glimpses of a shimming Corio Bay and the You Yang’s standing majestically behind. Travelling further along the road, before you hit the pretty main street of Drysdale, you pass by one of Australia’s Top Golf Courses – Curlewis Golf Club. Curlewis is one of the fastest growing golf clubs in Australia and you can’t help but notice the lush fairways and manicured greens.
After leaving Drysdale, the residential vicinity slowly gives way to wide-open fields of cropping land. This vista is ever-changing - bright yellow flowers as the Canola blooms, lush green crops and in the Winter months, a bed of rich brown soil.
Turning off the main road towards the vineyard, you meander along the rustic lane which is flanked by rows of Shiraz, Pinot and Chardonnay vines on either side.
Walking into the property you are greeted by the panoramic 180 degree views which take in the Bay, the You Yang’s and glimpses of Geelong and Melbourne.
Visitors have two dining options to choose from, the al la carte Restaurant and or the House of Jack Rabbit. If guided wine tastings are your desire, then head for the House of Jack House of Jack Rabbit via the bright, red door you will be intrigued by the eclectic décor and warm inviting open space, but be warned the waft drifting from the kitchen will set tummy’s grumbling.
The experienced and knowledgeable Cellar Door staff present the diverse stable of sophisticated cool climate wines and kick-off your first tasting with the Jack Rabbit Sparkling working your way through the tasting line up enjoying warming reds and crisp fruity whites and finishing with the Jack Rabbit Moscato style Audicia!
After tasting many choose to wander the surrounding vines, satisfy their grumbling bellies or to grab a bottle of their favourite wine and enjoy it on the vineyard lawn whilst soaking up the panoramic view.
Jack Rabbit is a jewel of The Bellarine and deserving of the recognition in BUPAs list of Australia’s best Winery Experiences.
