LUNCH 7 DAYS | DINNER FRIDAY & SATURDAY

GOLDEN PLATES REVEIW

House of Jack Rabbit’s Golden Plate Awards report is in… “A very large, well constructed menu that is inspired by seasonal produce with a splattering of local too showcases a talented kitchen team who are obvious foodies!! This kitchen was not feeling the pinch of a hectic day. Food was leaving the pass consistently which shows me the team is in full control.
The croquettes were amazing, well filled with protein without overpowering, perfectly poached eggs and a text book hollandaise that provided a lovely creamy zest to take the dish to another level, even the smashed peas below provided nice burst of freshness to complement the rest of the dish.
Next Fish and chips how they should be, the batter was light and crisp and not at all oily, the generous tartare sauce was full of flavour and well seasoned. The salad was fantastic to see, thought had been given here to just go with the old lettuce tomato and cucumber, the fetta and seeds covering the blanched greens took this dish up a level. Well done Chefs.

As expected a great list made up of the Groups portfolio, what impressed me most was the staff behind the bar willing to discuss and recommend the offerings whist being quite busy. They all spoke quite proudly of the wines and were happy to give detailed descriptions of characteristics and finishes. The beer list was solid with enough to intrigue the beer buffs while also keeping the sheltered drinkers happy. There was definitely thought put ensuring the food and drinks menus matched instead of just putting on all their own wines for the sake of it. My Sav Blanc worked beautifully with both meals.

House of Rabbit can sometimes be forgotten as Jack get the accolades for its fine dining offerings. This should not be the case as this licensed café’s praises should be sung from the rooftops!!! The amazing setting and dining spaces lend itself to any occasion, the food offering is second to none, and the level of service is slick yet still retains that feel of country warmth. Do yourself a favour and make your way to House of Rabbit, as good regional dining gets."
